About · The vision
Your life deserves better than a camera roll.
Fold is a small app with a big ambition: to be where our generation keeps its life. Privately, for good.
01 Why Fold exists
Most of what we live never gets written down.
The good dinner, the song that was playing, the thing your friend said on the walk home. Weeks later it’s gone, or buried somewhere between screenshots and work chats.
Journaling apps ask for too much: a blank page, a prompt, a daily ritual, an account, a subscription. So people stop. Social apps ask for something worse: an audience. Neither is a home for a life.
We named it Fold because that is what it does. Small seconds, folded together over months and years, until one day you open it and find a story you didn’t know you were writing.
02 What we believe
Four rules we don’t bend.
- 01
Remembering should take a second.
Every journal that asks for a blank page, a prompt and a daily ritual eventually gets abandoned. Fold asks for one press.
- 02
Private by construction.
Not a toggle in settings. There is no account and no server holding your life, so there is nothing to leak, sell or lose to a shutdown.
- 03
Software can feel like an instrument.
Fold borrows from industrial hardware and old terminals: honest type, tactile keys, a little film grain. Made to feel good in the hand.
- 04
Built to keep you, not hook you.
No feed, no likes, no guilt. A streak that cheers you on, never guilts you. The only metric that matters is whether you can find your life again in ten years.
03 Where it goes
Measured in decades, not daily active minutes.
- Today
- A private place to keep a moment in one second, and a beautiful way to find it again.
- Tomorrow
- The default way people keep their own story, the way the paper diary once was. Personal, permanent, theirs.
- Always
- No ads, no selling, no reading your memories. The promise doesn’t change as Fold grows. It is the reason Fold can grow.
“One key to keep a moment, and a beautiful way to find it again. Private, on your phone, yours.”
